The following guidelines outline the selection criteria for the NSW and ACT Junior State Teams to compete in the Australian Junior Interstate Team matches.
Each team will comprise five (5) male and five (5) girls.
Essential Criteria
Membership of an affiliated NSW Golf Club, or ACT & surrounding golf clubs for the ACT Junior Team.
Selected athletes are expected to be exemplary representatives of Golf NSW and the sport while participating in the Australian Interstate Teams matches.
Athletes will also be required to agree to a representative player agreement, and be bound by the Golf Australia and Golf NSW Code of Conduct
Age eligibility for team selection
Players must be under 18 as of the first day of play of the Australian Junior Amateur Championship contested immediately prior to the start of that years’ interstate teams matches
Selection Process
The NSW Selection Panel, appointed by the Golf NSW Golf Committee, will use several benchmark indicators and tournament results to guide selection of players for the Junior Interstate Teams Matches.
The list of benchmark indicators below is not all-encompassing, nor are they in priority order or weight:
- World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
- Golf Australia Order of Merit Rankings (GA OOM).
- Results in interclub Pennant Competition
- Results in Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG) Junior Vardon, and Junior Derrin tournaments
- Participation and results in gazetted “Important Events”.

Team Announcement(s)
NSW & ACT Junior State Teams are selected early to mid-February.
Athletes selected will be expected to enter and play in the Australian Junior Championships during the week prior to the Interstate Teams Matches.

2027 NSW Junior Team Information
Please note that during the 2027 Junior Interstate Series (including the Australian Junior Championship), parents/carers of NSW Team Members will be responsible for providing all after-hours supervision and accommodation arrangements for players throughout the duration of the event. Parents/carers will also be required to transport players to and from the host venue each morning and evening, in accordance with the schedule and directions provided by Team Management. All families should ensure appropriate arrangements are in place before the commencement of the series to support players’ participation.
Golf NSW will be providing funding to team members to assist with the associated costs. Once the NSW Junior Team is selected (early February 2027) selected players will be provided further details.
ACT Players Information
For players located in the ACT, further information in relation to 2027 Junior State Team selection and team arrangements will be available on the website in due course.
