Transportation Policy

The provisions of the Golf NSW Transportation Policy apply to all events under the auspices of Golf NSW, except where the event Terms of Competition specifically note otherwise.

During a round, a player or a caddie must not ride on any form of motorised transportation except when doing so in accordance with the Golf NSW policy listed in the Terms of Competition for the specific event, or when later approved by the Committee, based on the exception below.

An exception will be made in the case of a player or caddie who is affected by a disability.

The following must be produced to gain exemption:

(a) a current certificate or letter from a Medical Practitioner specifying the medical practitioner’s opinion that the disability necessitates the player or caddie requiring the use of motorised transport in order to participate in the competition; or

(b) in the case of a permanent disability, a letter from the General Manager/President/Captain of the Club, confirming that the player or caddie does not participate in any games of golf at that Club except with the assistance of motorised transport; or

(c) in the case of a temporary disability, a letter from the General Manager/President/Captain of the Club confirming that the player or caddie does not presently participate in any games of golf at the Club except with the assistance of motorised transport and nominating the period for which permission to use motorised transport is granted.

Golf NSW accepts no responsibility for the availability or cost of motorised transport at Host Clubs, or as to whether or not permission is granted to use motorised transport.

A player who will play, or has played, under penalty of stroke and distance is always authorized to ride on motorized transportation. The player gets the general penalty for each hole during which there is a breach. A breach between two holes applies to the next hole.

Clarification to the Golf NSW Transport Policy

For the purposes of Grade and Major Pennant, the intent is that players who are significantly disadvantaged due to their disability should be allowed to utilise motorised transport.  Should transport not be available during a wet weather event or the like due to conditions being dangerous for motorised transport use, then a player who has received an exemption to use transport may choose to play without using transport.
