Reigning Australian Senior Champion Gemma Dooley (NSW Golf Club) and 2024 NSW Senior Amateur Champion Louise Mullard (Wyong Golf Club) proved unstoppable at the NSW Senior Foursomes Medal today, storming to a commanding six-shot victory in the women’s division. Meanwhile, Colin Bloomfield (Wollongong Golf Club) and Stephen Deane (Brisbane Golf Club) delivered a clutch performance to secure the men’s title with an even-par 71.
The tournament, held at Pacific Dunes Golf Club, broke records with 186 players from New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, the ACT, and the Northern Territory teeing it up in the fiercely contested 18-hole foursomes stroke play event.
Dooley and Mullard’s dominance was undeniable, closing out the win at +7, while Bloomfield and Deane’s steady play saw them rise to the top in the men’s draw with an even-par 71.
“It was a great experience with Louise,” Dooley said. “We played pretty well most of the time but had a couple of bad holes where we couldn’t sink a putt. The greens were pretty slow, but overall, I enjoyed the challenge.”
In the nett divisions, Ian Leggatt (Hawksnest Golf Club) and Michael Halcrow (Castle Hill Country Club) claimed the men’s title on a countback with a score of 71. Burns Golf Club Belconnen’s Bev Obringer and Pat Woodberry were too strong in the women’s nett division, finishing on 75.
Indooroopilly’s Steve Toyne and Carbrook Golf Club’s Paranjit Singh emerged victorious in the men’s over-65 category, while Newcastle Golf Club’s Jill Blenkey and Queanbeyan Golf Club’s Pauline Jeffery took top honours in the women’s over-65 division.
