Mark Hale of Cypress Lakes has claimed back to back Men’s NSW Senior Order of Merit (SOOM) honors with a dominant year which included seven outright SOOM event wins at The Links Shell Cove, Wyong, Wentworth Falls, Northbridge, Twin Creeks, Bankstown and Port Macquarie, where he did the double and won the Seaside Classic Vardon Event.

“I was pretty happy with my win at the Seaside Classic this year, knowing I can still give the youngsters a run for their money” laughed Hale.

Hale also had another five tied top finishes at Mona Vale, Liverpool, Duntryleague, Pymble and Carnarvon for a total of twelve (12) wins.

“A massive thank you to my supportive family, especially my wife who allows me to travel to all these events.”

James Swanson of Shelly Beach edged out Mona Vale’s Andy Hugill for second place in the Senior Order of Merit – Overall Gross

Swanson’s notable results came at the NSW Senior Amateur where he was runner up and then he finished Leading Amateur at the NSW Senior Open played at Thurgoona Country Club Resort.

In the Over 65’s Gross, winner Denis Day of Penrith just pipped out Doug Cullam by the closest of margins.

Day had solid finishes at the ACT Senior Amateur and NSW Amateur to add to his three overall SOOM event wins and four tied top finishes for a total of seven (7) wins.

Cullam had another great year in the Over 65’s, finishing with thirteen overall SOOM event wins and another four tied top finishes for a total of seventeen (17) wins.

Darren Payne of Highlands was super excited when he was crowned the Net Winner of SOOM.

“I’ve had a great year and loved every minute of playing these SOOM events” said Payne.

Gemma Dooley secured the Women’s NSW Senior Order of Merit (WSOOM) to add to her success in Golf Australia’s National Senior Order of Merit.

What has been stellar year for Dooley, her three overall WSOOM event wins came at the ACT Senior Amateur, Belmont and Duntryleague and also included a tied top finish at Killara for a total of four (4) wins.

On the back of winning her first Australian Senior Amateur title and being part of the winning Australian Team at the Asia Pacific Senior Championships, Dooley was excited to hear the news of adding the Women’s NSW Senior Order of Merit (WSOOM) title to her great year in the senior rankings.

Last year’s WSOOM winner Louise Mullard finished in second place after claiming the NSW Senior Amateur and tied top finish at Killara and Monash’s Wendy Harrington clinched third place with a solid end to the year, finishing runner up at the ACT Senior Amateur and winning at Cromer.
