Under 12 Tour

Jack Newton Junior Golf is thrilled to introduce a brand-new series of events tailored specifically for junior golfers aged 12 and under.

This exciting announcement follows a remarkable increase in junior participation in clubs and events throughout the 2024 season, with many graduates from the Juniors On the Move Program ready to advance into tournament golf. (For more details on the 9-Hole Juniors on the Move Program, click here.)

The JNJG Under 12 Tour represents the next step in the Junior Golfing Pathway, bridging the gap between the popular Juniors On the Move Program and the regular events that comprise the JNJG Tour.

As junior golfers continue to join clubs and obtain official 18-hole Handicaps, many face confusion about their next steps. They often prefer to compete alongside peers of similar age or skill levels and may feel intimidated by regular 18-hole competitions with older club members.

The JNJG Under 12 Tour addresses this need by providing tournaments that allow these young golfers to acclimate to 18-hole competition while supporting their transition into events at their home clubs and the broader JNJG Tour.

Tour Structure

The JNJG Under 12 Tour will feature 12 events throughout the 2024 calendar year, categorized as follows:

  • 5 Stand-alone JNJG Under 12 Tour Events: These will take place on the outskirts of the Sydney Metropolitan area in regional NSW, similar to the JNJG Masters Series Events, helping juniors adapt to travelling for JNJG tournaments.
  • 4 Current JNJG Masters Series Events: These will also serve as JNJG Under 12 Tour Events, conducted on the same day and course, allowing Under 12 Tour players to see the next level of competition. These events will span 36 holes over two days (18 holes each day).
  • 2 JNJG Major Events: The Under 12 Tour will include the JNJG Under 12 State Age Championships (July School Holidays) and the Jack Newton International Junior Classic (September School Holidays), both of which will be played over three or four days.
  • 1 Presentation Day: An end-of-season presentation golf day in December, open to anyone who has participated in a JNJG Under 12 Tour Event throughout the year.

JNJG Tournament Pathway

  1. Juniors on the Move: 9-hole introductory events for players aged 6-14 without an official 18-hole Handicap.
  2. JNJG Under 12 Tour: A mix of 1, 2, and 4-day Tournaments for players aged 12 and under who hold an official 18-hole Handicap but are not yet regular 18-hole competition golfers.
  3. JNJG Tour: A mix of 2 and 4-day Tournaments for players aged 17 and under with an official 18-hole Handicap who are regular 18-hole competition golfers. Players aged 12 and under may apply for an exemption to compete in regular JNJG Tour Events, with each application evaluated individually.
