Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG) maintains a partnership with the Regional Academies of Sport (RAS), lllawarra Academy of Sport (IAS) and South East Sports Academy (SESA) to support the development of talented junior golfers across New South Wales. While Regional Academy golf programs are independently operated and are not formal components of the JNJG Talent Pathway, the Academies provide valuable local athlete support and development services that complement the pathway and assist JNJG-identified athletes in their progression.
The Regional Academies of Sport, Illawarra Academy of Sport (IAS) and South East Sports Academy (SESA) play a significant role in supporting athletes within their local regions by providing access to athlete education, sport science and sports medicine services, performance support, and personal development opportunities. These services help athletes develop both on and off the golf course and can complement the coaching and competition programs that athletes are already undertaking.
While Regional Academy golf programs are no longer formally aligned as JNJG pathway programs, JNJG recognises the contribution these programs make to the development of young athletes and values the support they provide to JNJG-identified players at a regional level.
Athletes involved in Regional Academy programs may have access to:
- Strength and conditioning
- Sports psychology
- Physiotherapy and injury prevention
- Nutrition education
- Sports science testing and profiling
- Athlete wellbeing and personal development
- Leadership and time management education
- Competition and performance support services
