The provisions of the Golf NSW Transportation Policy apply to all amateur Championship and State events, except where the event Conditions specifically note otherwise.
Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorised by the Match and Rules Committee or based on the exception below.
An exception will be made in the case of a player affected by a disability.
The following must be produced to gain exemption:
(a) a current certificate or letter from a Medical Practitioner specifying the medical practitioner’s opinion that the disability necessitates the player requiring the use of automotive locomotion in order to participate in the competition; or
(b) in the case of a permanent disability a letter from the General Manager/President/Captain of the Club, confirming that the player does not participate in any games of golf at that Club except with the assistance of automotive locomotion; or
(c) in the case of a temporary disability a letter from the General Manager/President/Captain of the Club confirming that the player does not presently participate in any games of golf at the Club except with the assistance of automotive locomotion and nominating the period for which permission to use automotive locomotion is granted.
Golf NSW accepts no responsibility for the availability or cost of automotive locomotion at Host Clubs, or as to whether or not permission is granted to use automotive locomotion.
Subject to the approval of the Host Club, the Match Committee and Rules Committee authorises caddies to use transportation provided that, during the stipulated round:
(a) the player does not accept a ride at any time; or
(b) the player does not accept advice from any other person travelling with the caddie.
Refer to Golf NSW Tournament Conditions & Policies web page for any penalties that apply for a specific event.
Clarification to the Golf NSW Transport Policy
For the purposes of Grade and Major Pennant, the intent is that players who are significantly disadvantaged due to their disability should be allowed to utilise motorised transport. Should transport not be available during a wet weather event or the like due to conditions being dangerous for motorised transport use, then a player who has received an exemption to use transport may choose to play without using transport.
