Terms of Competition – NSW Mid Amateur Championship

The Terms of Competition – NSW Mid-Amateur are to be read in conjunction with the Golf NSW Standard Terms of Competition for Events Run by Golf NSW, the Golf NSW Code of Conduct and the Golf NSW Hard Card.  

Should a conflict occur between the Terms’ of Competition, then the Terms of Competition outlined on the entry form take precedence.

1. Championship Procedure

     1.1     The Championship will be played as follows:

The NSW Mid Amateur Championship – stroke play over three 18-hole rounds. At the conclusion of the second round of stroke play, a cut will be performed for round three for the final 18-holes of the Championship, with the final number of players making the cut to be determined after the close of entries. For those players that miss the cut, a daily competition will be provided at the alternate venue.

NOTE: No adjustments to the round 3 draw will be made. If you are unable to take your position in the field, please notify Golf NSW as soon as possible.

The leading male player(s) at the end of this stroke play shall be the Men’s NSW Mid Amateur Champion and the leading female player(s) at the end of this stroke play shall be the Women’s NSW Mid Amateur Champion.  In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by sudden death play-off.  If insufficient time is available for a play-off, joint winners will be declared.  All other ties shall be determined using the Golf Australia Countback System.

2. Championship Committee

     2.1     The Championship Committee will comprise the Chair of the Golf NSW Golf Committee, Golf NSW Events Manager or their appointees, plus other nominated persons.

     2.2     In the absence of a full Championship Committee, such members that may be present at the time may give a decision, and any decision so given will be deemed to be a decision of the full Championship Committee.

     2.3     The decision of the Championship Committee as to acceptance or refusal of any entry will be final.

3. Rules of Play

     3.1     The Rules of Golf, as adopted by R&A Rules Limited, will apply, together with Golf NSW Hard Card, and any additional Local Rules as drawn up by the Championship Committee.

4. Entries

     4.1     GA Handicap: Eligible players are amateurs whose GA Handicap (or overseas equivalent) does not exceed 12.4 strokes (Men) and 20.4 strokes (Women) at the time of entry.

     4.2     Age: Eligible players must be 30 years of age or over as at the first day of play.

     4.3     Entry Fee: the entry fee applicable for this event is $120 per player.

     4.4     Ballot: In the event of entry applications exceeding the number of places available in the Championship (220), entrants will be determined by a handicap ballot, based on the GA handicap at the close of entries. Unsuccessful applicants will be informed without delay and given the opportunity to compete if withdrawals subsequently occur. Monies received from balloted entrants, who do not subsequently compete, will be refunded in entirety.

     4.5     Eligibility: Any player who has their golf playing membership or handicap at the date of the Championship suspended by Golf Australia, Golf NSW, any Club who is a member of Golf NSW / Golf Australia, or a District Golf Association, is not eligible to participate.

     4.6     Exemptions: There are no exemptions for this Championship.

     4.7     A player may enter with a Provisional Handicap, but will not be eligible to participate if their handicap is Provisional at the time of close of entries or on a day of play.

5. Motorised Transport

     5.1     The specimen condition in the Rules of Golf is in effect.

Participants must walk at all times during a stipulated round unless permission to use motorised transport has been granted by the Committee. The Committee will grant permission if the player is able to supply documentation (medical certificate or letter from club official) which states that the player requires use of motorised transport for medical reasons. Applications for permission MUST be made at the time of entry. Player’s must book carts with the host club as Golf NSW takes no responsibility for the availability of golf carts.

6. Practice

     6.1     Practice rounds prior to the Championship are at the discretion of the host club.

6.2 A player may not Practice on either course once play has commenced on day 1.

7. Registration

     7.1     Competitors MUST register 30 minutes before their starting time on each day of play. 

8. Pace of Play

     8.1     See the Golf NSW Hard Card for Pace of Play policy.

9. Prizes

     9.1     Competitors may win only one prize.  Prizes will be awarded in order based on value. If two prizes are of the same value, the scratch prize will take precedent.

10. Golf NSW Hard Card

     10.1     The Golf NSW Hard Card will be in effect throughout this event.
