THANK YOU

Golf NSW thanks everyone involved in the 2021 Golf Challenge NSW Open for their efforts during this year’s Championship.

A new home, increased spectator facilities and access, player satisfaction, as well as a bumper crowd have combined to make this year’s Open one of the best in recent memory.

The Golf NSW team couldn’t have pulled it off without the support of our volunteers, officials, Concord staff, both in-house and the hardworking greens crew.

With spectator numbers up, in particular on Sunday when almost 3000 were on hand to witness Victorian Bryden Macpherson lift the Kel Nagle Cup by three shots, the atmosphere was fantastic.

“There was a real buzz around the place, and there was plenty of activity going on. The small village of food trucks, the clubhouse, and refreshment stands did a fabulous trade.

“The size of the gallery following the leaders on the final day vindicated our decision to bring the Championship back to Concord,” Mr Stuart Fraser, CEO of Golf NSW, said.

Player satisfaction with the Tom Doak redesigned Concord Golf Club and its condition, despite the deluge the course copped in the lead-up to the tournament, was extremely high.

“The players I have talked to have all raved about how good Concord golf course is.

“Despite the weather early in the week, the course was in superb condition, and by Sunday, you had almost no idea of the drenching it had received.”

“Concord is a fantastic venue. It’s extremely popular with spectators and looked terrific on television.

“With the NSW Open to call Concord home for two more years, it will continue to grow and remain one of the feature events in Australian Golf.

“The NSW Open can’t grow without the support of those who committed their time and effort for the week, so on behalf of Golf NSW and the Board, thank you,” Mr Fraser added.
