Warren’s Billy Bridgen claimed his second Sand Greens Championship in a row after defeating local Coolamon member Graham Broadhead on the first playoff hole after both golfers finished tied on 148 (+4) in the 2020 Men’s NSW Sand Greens Championship at Coolamon Sports & Rec Club.
Both players bombed their drives down the first hole leaving short approach shots into the green. Brigden played a brilliant shot to put the pressure on Broadhead who also played a great approach shot but was unable to make his putt, leaving Bridgen with a tap in to win with birdie.
In the NSWVGA Championship, Brett Byrnes held on to his overnight lead to claim the title by 2 shots over Griffith’s Stephen Matheson
In the Teams Event, overnight leaders Goss, Broadhead and Stephenson of Coolamon’s were run down by the team of Whitmore, Jose and Winstanley also from Coolamon with a total of 441 winning by seven.
