Josh Armstrong of the Lakes and Monash Country CLub’s Nathan Barbieri have come up short in their quest for the 2019 Keperra Bowl.
The pair have finished in a tie for 3rd place, three shots behind the reigning Australian Junior Champion, Elvis Smylie after a thrilling final day at Keperra Golf Club on the outskirts of Brisbane.
Playing beside Smylie, Armstrong, the overnight leader, could only manage a closing 71, while Barbieri, carded a respectable 68.
They had no answer for the tall ranging junior from Southport on the Gold Coast who put on a faultless display of golf in the final round, carding a bogey-free 66, which included a brace of birdies on the 10th 11th and13th to all but seal the title.
Smylie’s four-round total of 272 or 16 under par was good enough to claim the title by two shots from another Queenslander, Dylan Gardner.
