The NSW Blues are set for interstate glory after winding up their prearations for the 2019 series with a women versus men hit out at New South Wales Golf Club before they depart for the apple isle on Sunday.
In a first, the squads have elected co-captains for the matches which will be held at Royal Hobart & Tasmania Golf Clubs.
Blake Windred and Josh Armstrong are captains of the men’s, while Doey Choi and Grace Kim will lead the women’s team which is out to defend the 2018 crown they won in South Australia.
Joining the players for their final hit out around the famed Mackenzie course at La Perouse were the 2019 ALPG Club Car Series winner Tahnia Ravnjak, and 2018 Queensland Open Champion, Jordan Zunic. Both former NSW representatives.
Following the hit out and announcement, the squad had a session with renown mind coach John Novak
“It was just a bit of fun,” Ravnjak said. “I played with Doey, and she is hitting it solidly.
“Khan (Pullen) and Graeme (Phillipson) have told me they are all in pretty good form coming into the week.”
Ravnjak was also impressed with the formidable Grace Kim, who earlier in the day had shot an incredible 64 at the Australian Golf Club in the first round of the Australian Medal.
“That’s some good golf. She had two eagles on two of the par-fives.”
Ravnjak also admitted it was a real thrill to put the NSW uniform on again, albeit in her role as the manager of the women’s team.
“It feels good to be in a team environment again, and so nice to have the New South Wales uniform in the cupboard,” she grinned.
“I can’t wait to get away with the girls, get to know their games, their mindset, and if I can help them in any way, it will be a bonus.”
