Major Pennant set to reach finale

Major Pennant heats up this Sunday when the semi-finals get underway after last weekend’s deluge ended the season for many clubs.

With only one match able to be played in Division One, Concord accounted for Moore Park 6 – 1 in section four to advance to this weekend’s Semifinal, at Twin Creeks where they will meet defending Champions. New South Wales

Avondale will square off against Bonnie Doon in the other Semi, with match getting underway at 10.12am, followed by the NSW versus Concord match at 11.08am.

In Division Two, just two matches were able to be completed, with both having a bearing on who would win the section. Cromer defeated Lynwood at Lynwood, but Liverpool did enough to win the section with a tight 4 1/2 to 2 1/2 win over North Ryde.

The result and washed out matches now mean The Lakes and Liverpool will clash, while Monash and Massey Park will meet in the other semi, with both contests taking place at Macquarie Links., with the Lakes and Liverpool first off at 7.00am followed by Monash and Massey Park at 8.00am.

No matches were able to be played in Division three, which leaves Lakeside taking on Eastlake and Dunheved meeting Manly in the semi-finals this Sunday. The matches will get underway at 12.04pm and 1.00pm respectively at Twin Creeks.

In division four, Richmond grabbed a remarkable 6 -1 win at home to ensure top spot in the section by only a couple of games from Bardwell Valley, who defeated Beverley Park 5 1/2 to 1 1/2. They will face Marrickville who grabbed a vital half point with a draw against Leonay at Leonay.

Springwood will meet Randwick in the other semi which will get underway at 7.00am followed by Marrickville and Richmond at 7.56am.

In Divison five, Riverside Oaks and Cammeray will meet in semi-final one, while George’s River and Chatswood will meet in the other semi. both matches will be held at Springwood Country Club from 12.30pm.

In Women’s Major Pennant action, and with the finalists already decided, no play took place last weekend.

The Australian will take on St. Michael’s this Sunday, while Bonnie Doon will meet Concord in the second semi. PLay will get underway at 8.52am at Twin Creeks.

In Divison Two, Cronulla will meet Pymble, and Moore Park will take on Avondale at Lakeside Golf Club, Camden, beginning at 12.18pm.
