Day Two | Lachie takes a commanding lead

Lachlan Chamberlain (Federal) has opened up a six shot lead with one round to play at the 2019 Harvey Norman A.C.T Week of Golf. The current Federal GC Club Champion backed up his morning 66 with an even par 72 on a hot afternoon when many players struggled. One player who didn’t was youngster Jeffrey Guan (The Australian), who moved into a share of second place with a round of the day 69. Guan sits at minus two, alongside Queenslander Sam Slater with the leading trio set to tee of at 8:21am on Friday morning.

The shot of the day belonged to 12 Year Old Harry Atkinson (Kurri Kurri), who recorded his first ever Hole-in-One when his 4 iron found the bottom of the cup on the 168m 8th Hole.

39 Boys (plus ties) made the 54 hole cut which fell at 237.

Day Two | Kim comfortably in front by four

Yerin Kim (Strathfield) will take a narrow one shot lead into the final round of the 2019 Harvey Norman A.C.T Week of Golf at the Federal Golf Club. On a gruelling day, Kim fired rounds of 71-75 to turn a four shot deficit into the 54 hole lead. Kim leads round one leader Kara Williams (Avondale), the 17 year old backing up her brilliant 70 with rounds of 75-76 to stay in the hunt. Brie Mapanao (The Australian) fired a 73 in the difficult afternoon conditions to play her way into the girls final grouping, six shots behind the leader.

18 Girls made the 54 hole cut which fell at 253.

Local heats up on day two

On a day when temperature soared into the 30s, current Federal GC Club Champion Lachlan Chamberlain has stormed to the top of the leaderboard after a sensational six under par 66 at the Harvey Norman A.C.T Week of Golf. Chamberlain got off to a flyer with an eagle-birdie start and made the turn at three under par. Another three back nine birdies saw the 16 Year Old finish with a 66 and a three shot lead.

Playing partner Sam Slater (Queensland) wasn’t left behind, matching Chamberlain with a second round 66 to move into outright second at five under par. Adam Coull (The Lakes) and Jaeseung Na (Queensland) are the only other players under par, sharing third at minus one.

The girls division of the Harvey Norman A.C.T Week of Golf is turning into a two-horse race, with Yerin Kim (Strathfield) joining overnight leader Kara Williams (Avondale) at the top of the leaderboard after a two under par 71 in the second round. The NSW state team hopefuls are eight shots clear of the rest of the field with youngster Brie Mapanao (The Australian) alone in third place.

Day One | Williams dominates girls division on day one

Avondale’s Kara Williams has dominated the rest of the field to take a commanding lead in the Girls Division after the opening round of the Harvey Norman Week of Golf at Federal Golf Club. Williams was super impressive in the hot conditions, the only girl under par on a tough opening day. The 17 year old, starting her final season as a JNJG Junior, picked up five birdies on Wednesday morning to take a four shot lead into Thursday’s marathon day.

Yerin Kim (Strathfield) sits in outright second, firing a one over par 74 on Wednesday morning. Kim made four birdies of her own, but also found some trouble on the testing layout.

The girls will play 36 holes on Thursday, before the top 18 players make the 54 hole cut and qualify for Friday’s final round.
