Colette Blacklock has denied Killara’s Jan Crichton a trifecta of women’s Mid-Amateur titles with a thrilling sudden death playoff win.
In near darkness, Blacklock calmly slotted a one metre par putt on the second extra hole to take her first NSW Mid-Amateur crown.
She described the win as a complete surprise.
“I have to say I am in shock,” she beamed after the win.
“I’m not used to playing in the final group at these sorts of things.
“I’m delighted but a little bit surprised.”
Blacklock, who plays pennant for Ryde-Parramatta is a regular competitor in ladies open and mid-amateur events around the country.
“I am the reigning South Australian Mid-Amateur Champion as well,” she smiled.
When asked about the invitation to compete in the 2019 Women’s NSW Open at Queanbeyan Golf Club that she will now receive, Blacklock was a little nonplussed.
“I hadn’t thought about it,”
“I better put some practice in between now and then,” she laughed.
FINAL RESULTS (WOMEN): 247: Colette Blacklock, Jan Crichton (Blacklock won on second playoff hole). 248: Adele Douglas. 249: Sharon Thompson. 252: Alison Gatland.
