Josh Armstrong’s two under 70 wasn’t enough, while a blistering final round 64 from Jordie Garner also couldn’t steal the prize at the Riversdale Cup.
The pair fell a shot shy of the three-way playoff in a tie for fourth at nine-under.
Victorian Lawrence Curtis, from Peninsula-Kingswood, eventually took the crown after a playoff between himself, West Australian Haydn Barron and Queensland’s Lewis Hoath.
Nathan Barbieri, who started the final day a shot form the lead could only manage an even-par 72 to finish in 9th place, while a late bogey on the 17th cost James Conran a place in the top 10 alongside Barbieri.
Harrison Crowe finished tied 13th alongside the Masters bound Lukas Michel at five-under, while Corey Lamb was another shot back in a tie for 15th.

In the Women’s division, Doey Choi could replicate the form of day one and her opening round 68, adding a pair of 75’s to finish 4th.
Another Victorian, Jenneath Wong of Metropolitan GC, took the crown by an impressive six shots, finishing at nine-under.
Avondale’s June Song finished tied for 7th at five-over, while Grace Kim, who is off to the Augusta National Women’s Amateur next week, finished tied 10th.
