Brewer best Aussie at NZ Senior

Ken Brewer is the best placed Aussie after the opening round of the New Zealand Senior at Hamilton Golf Club.

The Lynwood Club tyro carded an even par 72 and sits in a tie for 4th place alongside pre tournament favourite, Stuart Duff of Hastings Golf Club. 

Ken was a model of consistency all day, mixing three birdies with three bogeys in his even par effort, and in an ominous sign for his fellow competitors, the  Lynwood Country Club tyro came home strong, finishing the back nine in one under par

Local hope Andrew McKechnie of Hamilton and Royal Auckland’s Brent Paterson are the leaders, after both fired matching two under par rounds of 70 to open proceedings.

A shot back at one under is another local, Philip Mosely of Muirwai.

Some of the other scores from the 13- strong Aussie contingent include Brett Porter who carded a 79. Craig Wilson and Dale O’Donahoo recorded matching 80’s, while David Hoger, David Bagust, John Osborn and David Mc Clelland each handed in an 81. Mark Gatty and Lester Peterson both had 82.
