Savannah Webb (Stonecutters Ridge) and Ian Kim (St Michael’s) have claimed the 2025 Brett Ogle Junior Masters titles in style, overcoming blustery and testing conditions at Goulburn Golf Club.
Savannah Webb went wire to wire for her first Junior Masters victory, but it didn’t come easily. Starting the final round with a three-shot lead, Webb saw that margin disappear on the front nine as the chasing pack closed in. With nine holes to play, five players were within two shots, the title was well and truly up for grabs.
Webb rose to the moment, producing three consecutive birdies to reclaim control. The highlight came at the par-three 15th, where she chipped in from a downhill, short-sided lie, a clutch moment that sealed her momentum.
“I’m very happy, it’s my first time ever finishing under par in a tournament,” Webb said. “It was a very stressful day, but I’m happy to get the win. I was two back and just hung in there. That chip-in birdie was definitely the turning point. The matchplay event last month gave me a big confidence boost. I’m really excited for Bonville and hopefully I can redeem myself from last year.”
In the Girls 12–13 Years Division, Mingming Lee was outstanding, winning by six shots. Her even-par 72 put her just three strokes behind the overall champion, an impressive showing heading into the Bonville Champions Trophy in two weeks.
The Lakes’ Sophia Chau dominated the Girls 14–15 Years Division, also winning by six. Chau opened with three birdies in her first five holes and held the lead for much of the round. A few late bogeys cost her a run at the overall title, but her one-under finish secured a comfortable age-group victory.
In extremely windy conditions, St Michael’s Ian Kim showed grit and composure to secure his second Junior Masters title of the year. An eagle on the par-five 12th launched him into the lead, and he backed it up with tap-in birdies on 14 and 16 to pull clear. Federal’s Amir Rezaie made a late charge for a career-best finish, but Kim held firm for a two-shot win.
“It was playing really tough today, but I felt good about my game,” Kim said. “I played aggressive on the easier holes and smart on the harder ones. I knew I needed a birdie to take the lead, and getting it was a great feeling. Really nice to get the win. I’ll get some more practice in before the Champions Trophy.”
Kim adds this trophy to his Illawarra Junior Masters win in April, perfect timing with Bonville approaching.
Avondale’s William Eldridge put together a strong performance, leading for much of the final day before a late dropped shot. He still claimed the Boys 14–15 Years title and continues to establish himself as a major contender heading into next season.
The round of the day went to Wollongong’s Samuel Cheoi, who fired a brilliant three-under-par 68 to win the Boys 13 & Under Division in dominant fashion, a personal best at the perfect time.
Next up is the Bonville Champions Trophy, an invitation-only finale featuring a stacked field full of Junior Masters winners. It’s shaping up to be one of the strongest editions yet.
