Jack Newton Shield Returns To Moore Park

The stage is set at Moore Park Golf Club for the highly anticipated return of the Jack Newton Shield, a prestigious event on the junior golf calendar, bringing together some of the best young talents from Years 7, 8, and 9 across New South Wales and the A.C.T.

Leading the charge for the boys is Riley Lam (The King’s School), fresh off back-to-back wins at the South Coast Junior Masters and the NSW Junior Championships in the 15 Years division. Lam’s recent hot streak makes him a clear favourite to take out the Jack Newton Shield.

Another strong contender is Blake Cranston (St Brigid’s Catholic College), the reigning Jack Newton International Sub Junior Classic champion. Cranston has been knocking on the door of victory all year, with a third-place finish at the North Coast Junior Masters and a runner-up finish in the 15 Years division at the NSW Junior Championships. Will this be his breakout tournament in 2025?

In the younger age groups, Pennant Hills High School’s Haohua Sun made headlines with a dominant win in the 13 Years division at the NSW Junior Championships, where he triumphed by an astonishing 23 shots. That performance has firmly established Sun as one of the most exciting prospects in junior golf.

St Philip’s Christian College star Harrison Preece also enters the Shield with winning momentum, having claimed the title at the Peter O’Malley Junior Masters earlier this year. Can Preece secure his second win of the year at Moore Park?

On the girls’ side, Audrey Quan (Pymble Ladies’ College) has been building an impressive resume, highlighted by a fifth place finish in the 12 Years division at the NSW Junior Championships and a commanding victory in the 12 & 13 Years division at the Harvey Norman Sydney Week of Golf. She now sets her sights on her biggest win yet.

Joining her is Honey Kim (Santa Sabina College), who has dominated her age group with wins at both the South Coast and Blue Mountains Junior Masters in the 14 & 15 Years division. Kim’s consistent improvement and recent victories make her a strong challenger at Moore Park.

Another name to watch is Milla Adamson (Bishop Druitt College), who showed her class with a 3rd place finish in the 14 Years division at the NSW Junior Championships and a T6 result at the Greg Chalmers Junior Masters. Adamson’s recent form shows she’s on the rise and poses a serious threat.

Play begins at 7:00am on Monday morning.
