Almost 500 junior golfers from across Australia and overseas will converge on the Hunter from Tuesday, 30 September to Friday, 3 October 2025 for the Jack Newton International, one of the largest and most prestigious junior tournaments in the country.
The event will be contested across four divisions — the Junior Classic at Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club, the Sub-Junior Classic at The Vintage Golf Club, and the Under 12’s Championship and 9-Hole Challenge at Hunter Valley Golf Club — and continues to attract some of the strongest fields seen in junior golf.
Players from Samoa, Canada, Japan, Hawaii, New Zealand and New Caledonia will join competitors from every corner of Australia for four days of competition across three premier Hunter Valley courses.
Among the leading names in the girls’ field are Victorian Feiyu Xing, last year’s Sub-Junior champion, Queensland’s Ionna Muir and The Australian’s Camilla Kim, both NSW Junior champions, and Western Australia’s Kortni Houston, the reigning ACT Junior champion. Also in the mix are Victorian Amelia Harris, who won the Bonville Champions Trophy in 2023, and NSW Junior State Team members Lara Thomsen and Kiara Connolly Jackson, the latter a multiple Junior Masters winner.
The boys’ field features Concord pair Ti Fox and Bo Chung. Fox has won both the NSW and ACT Junior championships and is part of the NSW Junior State Team, while Chung adds the Bonville Champions Trophy and multiple Junior Masters titles to his resume. Queensland’s Chase Oberle, the QLD Junior champion, and Dubbo’s Cooper Giddings, the NSW Country Champion and runner-up at the Australian Junior, also shape as major contenders.
They’ll be joined by Junior Masters winners Bill Eppelstun, James Domazetovski, Ian Kim, Riley Lam, Shaylan Bennett, Levi Park and Harrison Preece, as well as former Sub-Junior winners Harry Gourlay and Blake Cranston. Queensland’s Harrison Gomez enters as the low marker in the field.
Jack Newton Junior Golf General Manager Dale Hughes said the event has become a highlight on the junior golf calendar, attracting stronger and more diverse fields every year.
“The Jack Newton International is one of the biggest weeks of the year for junior golf,” Hughes said.
“To see almost 500 players from across Australia and around the world coming to the Hunter this year is incredible, and it shows just how much this event has grown. It’s going to be an exciting week of golf, and a fantastic celebration of junior talent.”
The Jack Newton International has long been a standout on the Australian junior golf calendar, and the 2025 edition is shaping up to be the biggest and most competitive in its history.
