The final stop in the inaugural NSW Outback Series is Nyngan, home to a rich agricultural heritage, interesting museums and the well-known Big Bogan statue. Whether you are looking for an outback experience or a place to escape the hectic pace of city life, we hope that a visit to Bogan Shire will show you what “Comfortable Country Living” is all about. Visit Nyngan.

Nyngan Golf Club is a well-maintained sand greens golf course in a town which sits alongside the Bogan River. The rural town is on the edge of Outback NSW. The 18 hole course is located on the western edge of Nyngan, on the banks of the river.

Things to do & Places to Stay

Mid-State Shearing Shed Museum

The Mid-State Shearing Shed Museum, built in a former railway shed by retired shearers and the Nyngan community, showcases the significance of the shearing industry in Nyngan, Bogan Shire, and New South Wales. It also features local artists’ murals displayed throughout the museum. Located on the Mitchell Highway, the museum is next to a parking bay and picnic area.

Big Bogan

Standing at almost six metres tall with a surface area of 7.45 square metres, the Big Bogan offers a friendly welcome to the country town of Nyngan, near Dubbo. The street structure features typical Aussie symbols like thongs, and esky, Southern Cross tattoo, and a fishing rod, which references the great fishing in Bogan River.
