The NSW Blues have closed out the 2026 Junior Interstate Teams Matches on a high, defeating Queensland 5.5–2.5 in their final match to finish fourth on the leaderboard at Moonah Links.

Kim, Connolly-Jackson, Oyston, Fox and Cranston all won their matches, with Deen halving against Komulainen.

For girls’ captain Camilla Kim, the win was a fitting end to a long but rewarding week.

“It’s always good to get that win against Queensland in our last match. It’s been a pretty long week dealing with all the wind, but I’m a little sad that it’s over now, but also glad to go back home and catch up on my sleep.”

Kim was full of praise for her team, particularly the debutants.

“Especially Mimi, Jordy and Alicia, I’m so proud of them. They did really well, we had more wins than losses, and I’m really grateful to have them as my friends.”

On captaining the side, Kim reflected warmly on the experience.

“Leading this amazing team isn’t the easiest thing, but they made it really easy for me. Everyone gets along really well, so I didn’t have to do much work. I’m just really thankful.”

Boys captain Ti Fox, playing his final junior interstate, was equally proud of what the team had achieved.

“Final interstate of my junior career, it’s always good to finish with a win and beat Queensland, which is always fun.”

Fox singled out debutant Blake Cranston as the standout performer of the week, as he finished as the teams only undefeated player with five wins and one half.

“Blake was ridiculous, going undefeated in your first year, and it’s not like he was playing easy matches down the order. He was playing some of the best players in the country and playing some of the best golf I’ve ever seen him play.”

For Cranston, finishing the week undefeated was everything he had hoped for.

“Really good to get off to a good start. I hit the ball really well off the tee and holed putts when I needed to. With matchplay, I like to back myself, and it definitely paid off.”

Blake Cranston (second from left) was one of only five players who were undefeated at the 2026 event.

Fox also reflected on what the week meant beyond the results.

“It’s brought a lot of the boys together. Me and Gourlay were quite close as kids, and then went to different clubs and kind of split apart. Coming back here this week and having him back, we’re back together. That means a lot.”

Meanwhile, the ACT/NT boys rounded out a tough week with a 0–4 loss to Tasmania, with Whitelock, Rumpff, Trembath and Rezaie all going down in the boys’ matches.

New Zealand claimed the title with an unbeaten run of six wins and one draw, finishing well clear of the field. NSW ended the week fourth with 4.5 points, with ACT/NT boys finishing bottom of the table without a point from seven matches.
