Two of Sydney’s premier golf clubs — Oatlands Golf Club and Strathfield Golf Club — have been confirmed as host venues for the 2026 NSW Amateur Championship, to be played from January 27–31, 2026.

The historic championship, one of the most prestigious titles in Australian amateur golf, will bring together the state’s leading male and female players, along with some of the country’s brightest emerging talents.

Oatlands and Strathfield will share hosting duties, with both courses set to provide a complete test through the stroke play and match play stages of the championship.

Oatlands, just minutes from Parramatta, is famed for its tree-lined fairways and immaculate greens. Established in 1931, the par‑70 course is widely regarded as one of Australia’s best and has hosted elite events including the NSW Women’s Open and the Australian PGA Championship.

Strathfield features an 18-hole championship layout redesigned by Jim Wilcher. The scenic Cooks River comes into play on 10 holes, with multiple crossings adding a distinctive challenge for players.

Together, the clubs provide an exceptional stage for amateur golfers from across Australia to showcase their skills. As an added bonus, the NSW Amateur champions will earn automatic entry into their respective NSW Opens, giving them the chance to compete alongside leading professional golfers from Australia and around the world.

The format will see stroke play and the NSW Medal contested across Tuesday and Wednesday, before the top 32 men and 16 women advance to the match play rounds from Thursday through Saturday.

Golf NSW Chief Executive Officer, Graeme Phillipson, said the event is one of the standout moments on the NSW golf calendar.

“This championship is a highlight of the season and a real showcase of the depth of talent in the game,” Phillipson said.

“From the quality of our courses to the strength of our players and the passion of local communities, events like this show just how much golf is thriving.”

The NSW Amateur Championship has long been a proving ground for Australia’s top golfers, with past champions including Peter O’Malley, Jim Ferrier, Brett Ogle, Jack Newton, Karrie Webb, and Grace Kim.
