O’Donovan Hot on the Trail at Trans Mississippi
NSW Amateur champion Declan O’Donovan is right in the thick of things at the Trans Mississippi Amateur in Bloomington, Indiana.
Tied for second just one shot behind, O’Donovan has fired impressive rounds of 68 and 67 to position himself perfectly at 7-under for a serious run at this historic title at the Pfau Course at Indiana University.
Australian Amateur champion Jye Halls kept himself in contention at 3-under following steady rounds of 69-69. The Mollymook local is tied for 12th.
It’s a different story for some of the other NSW hopefuls, though – Blake Phillips finds himself on the right side of the cut line at minus one and in 35th place. Sadly, Coby Carruthers is struggling at four over par and likely facing an early exit.
The United States’ Lance Simpson still leads the tournament, but poor light has forced officials to halt play, leaving Simpson with six holes still to complete.
The Trans Mississippi is no ordinary tournament. Now in its 121st running, this time-honoured championship has launched the careers of some of golf’s biggest names.

Riley Surges in Singapore
Over in Asia, Jake Riley is playing well at the Singapore Men’s Amateur. After an even-par 72 in the opening round, Riley caught fire in round two with a brilliant 69 that rocketed him into 10th place.
The second round was a rollercoaster for Riley – he went on an absolute tear with birdies on the 4th, 7th, 9th, 10th, and 11th holes. Unfortunately, bogeys on the 14th and 18th halted his momentum.
Queensland’s Harry Takis is leading the way heading into the final round, with several other Aussies in the mix.
