Batlow Technology High School recently hosted its second Lunch Time Launch It event, drawing in over 100 enthusiastic students eager to give golf a try.

The Lunch Time Launch It Program is designed to bring golf to schools, offering students a unique and exciting way to engage with the sport.

The day was a smashing success, with Year 6 student Brock sharing, “I play a little bit of golf with my Nan. We try to go out and play every 2-3 weeks. I have really enjoyed the LTLI helping us to hit the ball better. But the best part is hitting further than my mates.”

The school already has a strong golf culture, thanks to its close ties with the local golf club. With the help of Sporting Schools funding, students enjoy free access to the club’s green fees. But Lunch Time Launch It has sparked even more enthusiasm.

PDHPE teacher and Sports Coordinator Ethan Kass noted, “Since the students and teachers enjoyed it so much, we decided to invest in a system ourselves. As a small school, we are always trying to find new avenues to give the students new experiences and opportunities.”

“Students are very keen to have a go once we have it all set up. And hopefully, in the future a central school’s competition will be set up, where we can compete with other schools using our system,” he added.

Kass also highlighted how the friendly competition played a key role in getting students involved.

“The Lunch Time Launch It program is popular amongst our students as it is something fresh and exciting. Using the program and setup allows the students to have a go and not have to worry about trying to find the ball after. It is also always more fun when you can try to beat your friends and teacher.”

With such positive feedback, the school is already planning to bring the program back in 2025.
