Trans-Tasman Team mates Cathy Stolz (Shelly Beach) and Nadene Gole (Victoria) have claimed the 2024 Women’s NSW Senior Foursomes Medal on a countback from Kim Burke and Jacqui Morgan.

The pairs, who incidentally played together, couldn’t be separated after regulation play, carding matching three-over par 75s. In third place, another three shots back, was the pairing of Gemma Dooley and Louise Mullard on 78.

The victory was a particularly sweet result for the duo, who were Australian teammates three weeks ago against New Zealand in the annual trans-tasman matches.

“It was a real thrill to play with Cathy today; we had an absolute ball,” grinned Gole. “The course played quite nicely, and we had a lot of fun.”

“It was quite warm out there, though, maybe 33- 34 degreees.”

Stolz, like Gole, was just as excited about the win. She did confide, however, it wasn’t the first time the pair had teamed up together.

“Nadene and I go back to juniors,” Stolz admitted. ” We played together quite a bit back then., so it’s always fun to play alongside her.”

Gole, like Stolz, will be one of the players to beat when tomorrow’s championship proper begins at both Tamworth and Longyard Golf Clubs.

Despite today’s win, she was cautious about her chances of defending her 2023 crown.

“My game’s getting there; it’s OK,” she smiled.
