Zac Mullins of New South Wales Golf Club (NSW GC) clinched victory in the NSW Cup over the weekend.
Mullins was two shots off the lead coming into the final round but managed to pull his way past his competitors in challenging conditions.
The NSW GC member had scores of 72, 72, and 76 to finish four over par, winning by just a single shot.
“I got off to a good start today. I birdied two of the first five (holes), so that got me off to a good start,” Mullins said.
“The other boys were sort of struggling a bit, so I knew if I stuck it out then I’d be close to the lead. But in the end, I didn’t realise how close Jye (Halls) was, so I was lucky I got that putt on 18.”
“It was a tough day. Like anytime, you have to play different golf out there when the conditions are like that, so the local knowledge was a big help. It was good to get it done,” he added.
“It was good to have some hard and fast greens. We have struggled with the humidity out here so the course turned up really good, I’m sure everyone would agree. It was good fun. A good test.”
Coming in second with five over par was another NSW GC member, Jye Halls, and in third was Kayun Mudadana, also of NSW GC, on six over par.
