It is with deep sadness Golf NSW announces the passing of its Life Member Mr Ray Vize on Tuesday, 17 October 2023. Ray was awarded Life Membership by the NSW Golf Association (NSWGA) for his sterling service to the administration of the game of golf in New South Wales since 1988. He was elected Secretary to the Lower North Coast District Golf Association (LNCDGA) and became its Life Member in 2000 for services to golf in the District.
Mr Vize became a Delegate to the NSWGA in 1992 and worked tirelessly serving on numerous Committees as well as a Delegate to the Australian Golf Union in 2000 and 2001. He was an active member of the NSWGA Handicapping and Course Rating Committee from 1994 to 2000 and its Chairman from 2000 to 2005.
As a Director of the NSWGA from March 1996 to March 2005, Mr Vize also served on the NSWGA Finance Committee.
When presented with his Life Membership, he stated “I am deeply honoured by the presentation of Life Membership. It has been a wonderful experience and I have enjoyed every moment of it.”
“I would like to have achieved more in the area of handicapping and course rating and hope that I have left behind a legacy that will see the work on this fundamental need continue into the future. Thank you everyone who has helped and made it all so enjoyable.”
He certainly has left a legacy for our golfing community and will be sorely missed. We thank you, Ray.
