Thurgoona’s Nathan Schneider has claimed his first Vendi Golf NSW Sand Greens Crown with a stunning final round at Hay Golf Club.
After starting the final round two shots back of the overnight leaders, Condobolin’s Brad Hurley and Tim Lewis of Nyngan, the Thurgoona gun stormed home with the round of the tournament, a two under par 70, to go with his opening round 74 to win by an astonishing six shots.
Hurley, whose second-round 78 was simply no match for Schneider, carded a two-round score of 150. The mark proved good enough to claim the NSWVGA (Over 55’s) title by six shots from his Condobolin clubmate, Stephen Beattie.
2022 Champion Josh Stapleton of Griffith rounded out the placings with rounds of 74 & 77 for a 151 total, and with Hurley claiming the Vets crown, Stapleton took the runners-up prize.

Locals dominated the Nett, with Herbie Maynard running away with the winners’ prize after shooting an incredible -14 for two rounds. A distant nine shots back in second place was Perry Starr at minus five.
Joey Walker of Warren Golf Club took out his second Junior Championship with a two-round score of 159. and with his improving game there for all to see, there’s no doubt he will be a contender for the main prize within a year or two.
The teams’ event was taken out by the strong Condobolin squad of Brad Hurley, Steve Beattie and Adrian Lancaster with a nett 437, by two shots from Binalong’s Duncan Bennett-Burleigh, Roy Robertson and Ron King.
