The final eight remaining amateur qualifying spots for the 2023 NSW Senior Open in late October are up for grabs in the next four NSW Senior-Order-of-Merit Events.
With the Newcastle/Hunter Senior Classic also a National Senior Order of Merit Event competition for the coveted spots to compete alongside many of the stalwarts of Australian Professional Golf on the SParms Legends Tour will be fierce.
Event Co-ordinator Emmanuel Aravanis said the all four of the contests are keenly contested affairs, with defending champion Ken Brewer them player to beat.
“Brewer is a Newcastle local, and he used his knoweldge last year to walk away with a very impressive win,” Mr Aravanis said.
Current leader of the 2023 NSW Senior Order- of-Merit, Andy Hugill will be keen to secure a coveted spot at Thurgoona for the Senior Open and will be a player to watch.
“Hugill has just risen to the top of the Senior Order of Merit Rankings, winning three out of his last four Senior Events.
“He won Oatlands, Eastlake and Killara. Event the one he didn’t win, at Pymble, he ran third,” Aravanis added.
