The 2022 Gungahlin Lakes Open will carry an added incentive for players this year, with the champions set to receive an exemption into the 2023 Play Today NSW Open and Women’s NSW Open.

The Men’s Open, played over 36 holes on September 17th and 18th, and the Women’s Open, contested on Thursday, 22 September, are significant events on the ACT golfing calendar.

In addition, the Men’s event is also a Golf NSW Senior Order of Merit (SOOM) and NSW Vardon event.

Olivia Wilson, Golf NSW Events Manager, said allocating a coveted spot in the State’s most prestigious championships to the winners was a genuine indication of the talent expected to contest both tournaments.

“With the support of the ACT Monaro District, elite amateur golfers in southern NSW are being recognised with an Open spot on offer for the respective champions.

“Both tournaments look set to be popular affairs, and we expect it won’t be ACT Monaro locals in contention but possibly an interstate raider keen to lock their place away in the NSW Open.”

Inquiries regarding the event can be sent to the Gungahlin Lakes Club Captain, Kevin Flanagan through the club.
