Jeffrey Guan and Jye Halls have both made a sound start on the opening day of the US Junior at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon.
The pair carved out matching even par rounds in differing circumstances; Aussie Jun for Champ Guan posting four birdies and four bogies. Halls, meanwhile went on a roller coaster ride, with seven birdies, two doubles and three bogies on his way to a 72.
They currently sit in 49th place, just inside the all important top 64 cut-off mark.
Victorian Harvey Young is the best placed Australian, currently six under par and tied for first place.
Queensland’s Kai Komulainen carded a two under par round to sit in 16th spot.
