Picton’s Justin Warren and Shellharbour’s Travis Smyth are in the mix to progress to the final stage of Korn Ferry Tour School after the opening round of Stage II qualifying in Murietta, California.
Warren, from The Australian Golf Club, was flawless around the Bear Creek course, carding a bogey-free seven-under-par 65 to lead by a shot from a trio of locals, Joseph Harison, Alex Chiarella and Matt Picanso.
Smyth, meanwhile, was almost as impressive, carding five birdies and just one bogey in his four-under-par effort, which put the St. Michael’s representative into a five-way tie for 9th place.
Grace Kim, Meanwhile will continue her quest to secure playing rights on the LPGA Tour when she begins Stage II Qualifying on Thursday night (AEDST) in Venice, Florida.
