Nominations for the position of Director at Golf NSW are now closed.
Directors Nominations
As outlined previously on the Golf NSW website, nominations open for two positions as Director on the Golf NSW Board are now open. A nomination form and information pack will be available at www.golfnsw.org.au from today.
Nominations will close at 4pm Thursday, October 7.
The Board consists of nine Elected Directors and up to two Appointed Directors. The current Golf NSW Board Members are Michael Medway (Chair), Meralyn Fage (Deputy Chair), Sally Kirkright (Chair Finance), Lyn Cooper, Kaye Dalton, Frank Gal, Grant Harding, Peter Ipkendanz, Les Wallace and Andrew Fraser (appointed).
Director’s Michael Medway and Sally Kirkright will have their term of office ends at the conclusion of the 2021 AGM and are eligible for re-election.
Term of Office
The two successful candidates will receive 3-year terms, in accordance with changes adopted by Special Resolution at the 2019 Annual General Meeting.
The changes to Rule 38 will see all Elected Directors having a Three-year term by 2023, with a progressive transition occurring until then. 3 of the 7 successful candidates in 2020 were the first to be allocated 3-year terms (Frank Gal, Lyn Cooper and Kaye Dalton), and the remaining 4 positions were allocated 2-year terms (Les Wallace, Grant Harding, Peter Ipkendanz, Meralyn Fage). Four positions will be for election in the 2022 election next year, with 3 of the successful candidates receiving 3-year terms. Finally, three positions will then remain for election in 2023, for 3-year terms.
After that, an Elected Director’s term of office will commence at the conclusion of the relevant Annual General Meeting and cease at the conclusion of the third Annual General Meeting following their election. Subject to the transitional provisions of Rule 38, a Director can seek re-election, however, a Director may not serve for more than 2 consecutive terms totalling 6 years.
Who can vote at this Election
Voting for Directors will be the responsibility of Member Clubs and Districts. Ballot papers will be sent to those eligible to vote on Friday 7th October, via email and by post. Voting papers may be completed and returned via post or a vote may be lodged online.
Club and District Presidents are authorised to exercise the Club’s or District’s voting rights unless the Club or District has appointed another person in accordance with Rule 20 of the Golf NSW Constitution.
If your Club or District has appointed somebody else to undertake this role, you will be contacted in a separate piece of correspondence. Voting closes on Tuesday 9th November 2021.
AGM
The results of the election will be announced at the AGM on Tuesday 16th November 2021. This AGM will be held via video conference and the details will be forthcoming.
