COVID Sadly Forces Calendar Changes To Key Events

COVID-19 Calendar Changes

With little sign that the current lockdown across New South Wales will ease in the short term, calendar changes to several events have been made by Golf NSW and Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG).

Sand Greens Championships

The NSW Men’s and Women’s Sand Green Championships, scheduled for Nyngan and Coolamon, will now move to 20-21 November (men) and 27-28 November (Women).

Women’s Medal

Sadly, Golf NSW has been forced to cancel the Women’s Medal Competition for 2021.
Clubs that have completed their medal rounds will still receive medals for their winners. In addition, The winners will attend the 2022 District and Metropolitan Finals and the State Final if they were to qualify.

Eric Apperly Shield

Again, Golf NSW has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Eric Apperly Shield season.
The uncertainty of the NSW Government restrictions in Greater Sydney and tee time pressure on Clubs has made rescheduling the competition too challenging for 2021.
Golf NSW will provide clubs with 2022 dates as soon as they are available.

Junior Pennant & Encourage Shield

Unfortunately, the latest NSW Health restrictions have resulted in JNJG cancelling this year’s Metropolitan Junior Pennant and Encourage Shield events.

“There will not be any chance of rescheduling, so cancellation is the only option. It will also mean that the Statewide event finals will not be played,” JNJG Events Manager Dale Hughes said.

Metropolitan Pennant Playoffs & Master Pennant Finals

With only a few relegation contests still to be played in 2021, Golf NSW is allowing impacted clubs until the end of the year to complete the remaining matches. A draft draw for the 2022 Major Pennant Season will be ready in the coming weeks.

Currently, there is no change to the status of the Master Pennant – Finals Series. When it is likely that the competition can recommence, Golf NSW will communicate further details to participating Clubs.
