Eight Blues named for 2020 Interstate Series

Eight outstanding golfers will represent New South Wales at the 2020 Australian Interstate Series.

To be held at Bonnie Doon Golf Club from May 12th to 15th, the 2020 series will be a first in over a century of interstate teams matches with the men’s and women’s teams competing together at the one venue.

The new-look format of the competition will see the teams compete in singles match play in a round-robin format against the six other States. At the completion of the round-robin, the leading two teams will play off for the Australian Teams title.

The New South Wales team is:

Nathan Barbieri – Monash Country Club
Kelsey Bennett – St. Michael’s Golf Club
Harry Bolton – NSW Golf Club
Doey Choi – Concord Golf Club
James Conran – Pymble Golf Club
Harrison Crowe – St. Michael’s Golf Club
Grace Kim – Avondale Golf Club
June Song – Avondale Golf Club

John Serhan will be the coach, and Tahnia Ravnjak will be the Manager.

Barbieri, Crowe, and Conran were part of the NSW men’s team which was defeated on a countback for last year’s title in Tasmania while Bennett, Choi, and Kim were part of the NSW women’s team which went back-to-back at Royal Hobart.

The squad has been bolstered with the addition of Harry Bolton, who recently graduated from Newbery College, South Carolina.

June Song will make her debut in the senior ranks after Stephanie Kyriacou, selected initially as part of this year’s team, elected to turn professional following her breakout win at the Geoff King Motors Australian Ladies Classic – Bonville.

“The eight selected already have plenty of experience at national, and international level,” General Manager of Golf at Golf NSW, Mr Graeme Phillipson said. “This is an impressive squad, and they all have impressive resumes.”
