Bayview Duo Christine Jacobs and Debbie Danielson are bound for Bonville after taking out the women’s Division of the Keno Let’s Play Ambrose Regional Qualifying held at the Coast Golf Club.

The Duo carded a tidy gross 74, and with their combined handicap of nine, their nett 65 was enough to win by 3/4 of a shot from Cronulla’s Jacquelyn Brownson and Susan Wiggins.

“Oh my god, I can’t believe this has happened, I’m overwhelmed!” beamed Jacobs. “We don’t usually play together, and now here we are.”

The pair almost didn’t make it to the Qualifier. Danielson injured her back last week, and seemed unlikely to make it to the first tee. She did, and the rest, as they say, is history.

“We came for a practice, and Debbie just chipped. She couldn’t do anything else,

“I said; Don’t worry, let’s just get ready for today,” Jacobs added.

The pair began the day with no expectations and were simply content to enjoy the views. Without the pressure, the pair combined well.

“We had no expectations today, and now here we are. We just enjoyed the views, We did the work, and we just combined so well,” Danielson said.

It will be Jacob’s second trip to Bonville for a Keno final. She qualified for the four-ball a year or two ago and is excited to be able to show Danielson around the course.

“it’s my second time, I’ll be guiding Debbie around,” Jacobs smiled.

In the Men’s Division, local knowledge played its part with the home course’s Jake Jacobsson and George Neou emerging with the coveted place in the final at Bonville on a countback.

Chatswood’s Ryan Bernard and Ryan Richard were looking like their 61.5 was going to be good enough until the local pair came home in the second to last group of the day.

It wasn’t entirely bad news for the Chatswood contingent today however. In the mixed division, the mother and son combination of Kane and Melissa O’Donnell carded a tidy two under par 70 off the stick for a nett 61.75, winning by 2 3/4 shots from The Coast’s Amelia Bowen and Alan McEntee.
