The 2020 Men’s and Women’s NSW Amateur Championships will be held from January 20th to 24th at St. Michael’s and the Coast Golf Clubs in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
The men’s NSW Medal and the Women’s 36 hole Strokeplay Championship will be be conducted over one round at each course on the opening two days, with the top 32 men and top 16 women progressing to the matchplay rounds for the NSW Amateur Championship, which will be held at St. Michael’s Golf Club.

The neighbouring courses in Maroubra provide magnificent coastal views towards Botany Bay in the south and towards the heads of Sydney Harbour in the north.
Events Manager Olivia Wilson said the courses would provide a challenge for the players, with the traditional summer breezes bound to ensure the courses certain to make conditions hard.

“Both are links courses in every sense. The wind will play it’s part and the player who prepares for this will come out on top,” Ms Wilson said.
The NSW Amateur Championship is one of Australia’s oldest titles, dating back to 1800’s. Past Men’s champions include Michael Campbell and Jim Ferrier, who both went on to win major championships, while more recently the trophy has been lifted by Tour winners, Jarryd Felton, Jake Higginbottom and Ben Eccles. 2012 Champion Brett Drewitt is now a member of the US PGA Tour.
The women’s NSW Amateur crown is no less prestigious, with a list of former champions which includes Karrie Webb, Nikki Campbell, Rachael Heatherington and Dame Joan Hammond.
2019 Champion Lisa Edgar is expected to defend her crown.
