Overnight leader Billy Bridgen of Warren Golf Club has claimed his debut win in the Men’s NSW Sand Green Championships by two shots at Barraba GC.
Bridgen was able to hold of fellow team mate Dean Leach who finished with a total of 147.
“It’s my first time coming to a state event. Lucky me i guess,” Brigden smiled
Barraba’s Kevin Kelaher was too strong in the NSWVGA Championship running away with a six shot victory of Keith Flood of Coonabarabran.
Kevin finished third in the overall Championship with a fine total of 148
Brigden teamed up with Dean Leach and Mark Robertson to take out the Teams Nett event with a total of 419 to win by one shot from overnight leaders Walgett and Holbrook who both finished with 420.
Dates for next year’s Sand Green events were announced with the Men’s NSW Fourball Championship being held at Walcha Golf Club on March 21-22 and the Men’s NSW Sand Greens Championship being held at Coolamon Sports & Recreation Club on October 17-18.
