Jenny Stephenson (Cobar) has made a late charge at the 2019 Women’s NSW Sand Greens Championship to win by four shots from overnight leader Chantell Greaves (Dunedoo). Stephenson shot a tournament-low round of three-under-par 68 to take control of the Championship after a solid 74 in her first round. Greaves was consistent in her bid for the Championship with a second-round 75 to follow her opening round of 71.
There was even closer competition in the nett side of the Championship with Dunedoo’s Karen Solberg following up her first round score of 60 with a 59 nett today. This sealed the nett prize for Solberg from a contingent of Coleambally players.
In the teams competitions, the Dunedoo pairing combined well with Mudgee’s Barbara Sewell to form the WDLGA team that won the RLGA Jug for 2019, which is for the leading team nett score. In the scratch team competition, the SWLGA Bowl, Jenny Stephenson lead her Cobar team with Narelle Kriz and Fay Hardwick to a 15 stroke victory over their nearest rival.
