Sand greens be gone, welcome to sand pinks.

The innovative Binalong Golf Club has gone into uncharted territory this week with the introduction of a new coloured putting surface.

The 16th green has been stripped of its customary black sand, and in its place is a sparkling new pink replacement to raise awareness of breast cancer.

After much discussion among the committee, club legend Michael Brayshaw has been hard at work in his shed, concocting a dye marker-based brew that has turned some locally quarried white sand into an eye-catching pink revelation.

The pink sand was put in place only this week and will be retired after the event until the club turns up its fundraising mission again.

There’s also a special pink flag custom-made for this week’s event.
