Paterson Golf Club is the vest value golf course in the Hunter Region. It is a par 64 nine-hole golf course open to the public seven days per week.
Saturday competition is open to both men and women with tee of time between 6:30am and 8:00am (no time sheets). Therefore, there is no social play before 10:30am.
At the heart of Paterson Golf Club are the volunteers within the community. Apart from a paid greenkeeper employed two days per week, all other work is carried out by the members who volunteer their time.
Foundation members of the local Courthouse Hotel formed a social club in 1971. A three-hole practice area was developed within the nearby showground complex. However, that dwindled within the year due to lack of volunteers to do the manual labour to maintain the course.
As a result of interest to develop a golf course in the early 1990s revitalised, many determined members donated their time, labour, finances and support to create the nine-hole course.
The Paterson golf course is located in the historic town of Paterson. The town has one of Australia’s finest collection of colonial farm buildings dating back to 1822 at Tocal Homestead. It is only two hours’ drive north of Sydney and 50 minutes west of Newcastle Airport.
Hunter Valley is within easy reach from Paterson Golf Club with a range of accommodation available from hotels, resorts, cottages, houses and B&Bs.
