New South Wales Golf Club is located on the northern headling of Botany near La Perouse, and about 20 minutes from Sydney CBD. As a Private Club and subject to special events, the golf club provides for limited guest access during weekdays only.
Opened in December 1926, the famed links layout regularly rates in the top 50 golf courses in the world. Golf Magazine (US) rates the course #34, while Golf Digest (US) rates it as the ninth best course in the world outside of the United States.
Due to the challenging nature of the course, the maximum handicap for men is 27 and for women is 36.
No weekend times are available unless invited by a member. Bookings are essential, and can be made through the internet or directly with the New South Wales Golf Club office.
Practice facilities include a full length driving range, hitting nets, chipping and putting green, and putting only green. A clubhouse with a restaurant and bar is located on the first floor.
Visitors are invited to cross the bridge and play the world-famous 6th hole from the island tee brass plates; with a view of the S.S. Minmi shipwreck and the entrance to Botany Bay.
