Merriwa Golf Club is a nine-holes sand greens golf course. When it amalgamated with the Merriwa Bowling Club, it became part of the Merriwa Sports Club.
The course has no bunkers are water hazards. The challenge is to maintain accuracy to stay within the out of bounds areas and away from the trees. The par 72 course is a comfortable walk. You may come across some of the native and farm life.
The Sports Club includes a Chinese Restaurant serving Chinese and Australian meals. It is open for dinner on Tuesdays to Sundays from 5:00pm to 8:30pm and lunch on Wednesdays from Sunday 12:00pm to 2:00pm.
Merriwa is a small town located on the Golden Highway between Newcastle and Dubbo in an agriculturally rich area of the Upper Hunter Shire. It is about a two hour drive from Sydney, and half way between Dubbo and Newcastle.
Merriwa is the ‘birthplace of the Pony Club’. During the weekend there are plenty of sporting action to take in. It may be the best ‘pit stop’ you will ever make. Experience historical attractions and spectacular scenery in the Goulburn River National Park.
