Maclean Golf Club is located on Woodford Island, about 4km from the town centre. The Club is well-known for its friendly atmosphere. The town is dubbed, ‘The Scottish Town Of Australia,’ as it has hosted the Highland Gathering every Easter for over 110 years.
The course is an excellent all-weather facility and features a fully automatic irrigation system for both the fairways and greens. There are a number of small dams and lagoons which feature on the course. Each presents its own challenge to golfers of all standards. The undulating course features Tift Dwarf greens which are mostly quite large and well-maintained.
In 2003, after yeras of voluntary work by members, the club graduated to a full 18 hole golf course. It is a very picturesque course bleeding into the natural bush surroundings, with an abundance of bird and animal life. Gardens feature a variety of native shrubs which add to the beauty of the course.
The recently enlarged Pro Shop is open from early till late most days stocking all golfing needs. Drinks and snacks are also available in the Pro Shop.
Kitchen facilities operate on all competition days and major event days. On Friday events are the weekly raffle nights, with meals served at very reasonable prices.
