Lachlan River Sporting & Recreational Centre, t/a HIllston Golf Club is an 18 hole black soil sand green course in the western Riverina. The course has grass fairways after rain, or dirt red fairways during drought. It is located just over the river on the Mossgiel Road.
Volunteers run the golf club building which includes a bar and a kitchen and open three days a week during golf competitions.
Getting to Hillston from Sydney takes 7-1/2 hours. It takes 6-1/2 hours from Melbourne. Another option is to fly from Sydney to Griffith City Airport, then rent a car for the 75 minutes’ drive to Hillston.
Hillston is a charming town on the Kidman Way; a scenic route in the heart of NSW between Jerilderie in the south and Queensland border in the north through Bourke.
If you want to see the ‘tallest bar,’ visit the Black Stump Hotel on the way to Hillston.
Hillston is on the banks of the meandering Lachlan River in the beautiful western Riverina region. Enjoy the tranquil parks and heritage buildings in the country town. It is also a great base for exploring the Wilandra National Park, home to kangaroos and emus.
