Burns Golf Club Belconnen (formerly known as Belconnen Magpies Golf Club) is an 18 hole par 72 layout in northwest Canberra, approximately 20 minutes from the city CBD.
The club is a popular venue for social play, especially during school holidays and weekends.
Burns Golf Club is not a particularly difficult walk, nor is it the Australian Capital Territory’s most difficult course, but framed by the distant Brindabella mountain range in the distance, it has an attractive aspect about it.
There are a few holes of note:
- The first, a 485 metre downhill par five featuring a mature-sized tree about 100m from the tee in the middle of the fairway.
- The 5th, a 181 metre par three, guarded by a trio of bunkers with water short of the green, and
- the 11th, a 381m dogleg right with two bunkers short of the green. Miss the fairway right, and you’ll find yourself in some thick trees.
Clubs, buggies and carts available for hire, out-of town or interstate visitors don’t have to worry about a thing at Burns Golf Club.
Post-round visitors are welcome to relax at the clubhouse. It is the very best in club facilities in the ACT. Featuring huge screens for all the best live sport, the facility features an open plan TAB and amazing views.
In addition the club’s bistro is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. The Burns Golf Club is the perfect place to catch up with friends and family to enjoy everything on offer.
