Ballina Golf & Sports Club, located a couple of hour’s drive south of the Gold Coast, is one of the Northern Rivers’ best championship courses.
Also one of the prettiest courses on the NSW Far North Coast, Ballina Golf & Sports Club has views over the nearby North Creek and local hinterland.
An easy walking, tree-lined 18-hole layout, the Ballina course will challenge the better players. At 6052m for the men, and 5249m for the women, it’s not a beast, but likewise, it’s no pushover. Always kept in consistently good condition, the course is pretty well playable in all but the worst weather.
Ballina offers a great variety of holes, with the back nine probably the pick of its two nines.
The course even has its own version of ‘Amen Corner”; holes 14, 15 and 16 – all tough par fours and ranked three, one and five respectively on the handicap index.
For those golfers keen to warm up pre-round, the club has a range of practice facilities including a large putting green and chipping area as well as a short (130m) driving range.
Post round, you don’t want to miss the club’s warm and friendly atmosphere. It is an extremely popular destination for visitors and the local community alike.
Boasting a well-appointed lounge and bar with large TV and gaming facilities, Ballina Golf & Sports Club also offers excellent Chinese and Australian Cuisine.
Time slots during the week and on the weekend for visitors wishing to play in competitions are available. Check with the Pro Shop or Office by phoning (02) 6686 2766.
