Pete Ready to Feel the Heat at Thurgoona

Peter Fowler is back for his second tilt at the Lincoln Place NSW Senior Open at Thurgoona Golf Resort.

A winner on the European Men’s Senior Tour in 2018, Fowler is back in Albury as one of the tournament favourites, and he is once again looking forward to the challenge.

After opening with a 61 in 2018, Peter Senior will be looking to add his first NSW Senior Open Crown to his resume

“I enjoyed the course last year, it’s in great condition, and it looks like some great weather this year,” Fowler said.

The laid back Sydneysider likes the feel of the place and said it was easy to teel how thrilled the club members were to be hosting the championship.

“This is a good tournament. We (the players) feel the vibe; you know the club is behind it, and the locals love it.

“It makes us feel good and makes us want to play well.”

As one of the headline acts in Australian Golf for over three decades, Fowler said it was good to be back out competing against so many familiar names of Australian Professional Golf.

“There is a bunch of good names out here playing this week.

Mike Harwood is having a great year, Peter Senior is always thereabouts, Peter Lonard and Michael Long. I’m sure he has the feel from last year.”

Fowler described his form this year as a bit of mixed bag with a couple of early-season injuries meddling with his season on the Staysure Tour in Europe.

“I started off with a couple of little injuries in the first month in Europe which made it difficult

Peter Lonard will be one for the players to beat this week at Thurgoona.

” I played pretty decently without putting a whole tournament together, it was two good rounds – one bad, one which cost me.

The warmer climate of the Albury region, however suites the tall Sydneysider, and provided the body stand up to 54 holes, He feels he will be in the mix on Sunday.

“I feel I am playing well enough, I’ve just got to keep the body going.

“If I can it’s one less thing to worry about and I can concentrate on the one thing which matters, my golf.”
