Summer Starts Now For Crowe

It may still feel like winter for most of us, but for St Michael’s Harrison Crowe, the Aussie Summer of Golf starts this week.

Crowe Jetted out for Japan early this evening bound for the Hakone Country Club to represent Australia at the Asia-Pacific Junior Championship.

The talented yr 12 student is raring to go, after being forced to watch the exploits of his NSW teammates as they trekked across Europe and the US competing against the game’s best amateurs.

“It was great to see them have some success,” Crowe said before jumping on his Tokyo-bound Qantas Flight.” But sitting back and watching their results just made me want to get amongst it.”

Crowe impressed more than a few followers with his undefeated effort at the Interstate teams matches at Tasmania Golf Club in early May.

He admitted, though, the lack of competition has had a bite, and he was keen to put they lay-off behind him

“Not playing competitive golf makes me impatient, and I’m keen to start competing and playing some good golf this week.

“I just wanna get out there and do it on the big stage,” he smiled.

With books to pore over, and just the NSW and Qld Junior titles since the Interstate to keep his competitive juice flowing, Crowe said it had been an ideal opportunity to swot up on his game with coach John Serhan.

“We’ve just been fine-tuning. fixing the little stuff in my game and staying on top of things.

“The game is in good shape, so hopefully I’ll play some good golf this week and build some confidence for the summer run.”

It won’t be entirely golf for Crowe when he returns home in a week. The trial HSC exams are just around the corner, and then the real deal begins in early October.

“There’s a couple of events in October I can’t play because of school, but the November events kickstart the summer run.

If there was one regret Crowe had about heading to the land of the rising sun, it was being unavailable to help his St Michael’s teammates in the final of the Eric Apperly Shield.

“Yeah, it is tough to miss out on Apperly final, but Yeah I saw the boys today at practice, and really revved them up,” he grinned.
